Chilly Dog Sweaters Review

Since Duke really is too large to fit many items, I have resorted to dressing up Jax. :) He really does get cold during our winters and I am always on the lookout for high quality sweaters that will keep him warm.

The first sweaters that I have found that I am actually really happy with the quality are Chilly Dog Sweaters. These hand knit sweaters are very thick, compared to many sweaters I have seen. They also come in many pretty colors and patterns. I choose a green sweater that looks great on Jax. It fits well and if he was a dog, is high cut enough to allow male dogs to go potty.

I will note that these sweaters are available in sizes up to xxx-large, so while I haven't tried, I think one might fit Duke.

I would give this sweater a 5 out of 5 stars and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for a high quality, warm sweater for their dog or cat.

GoDog Tough Balls by Sherpa Review

Duke is not a chewer, but he likes to destroy toys. He has no interest in chewing on things he is supposed to (or not supposed to for that matter), rather he likes to take plush toys and tear them apart. He will slowly rip off the tails, ears, and noses; eventually he rips it open and takes out all of the stuffing. I am always looking for durable plush dog toys that he can't destroy shortly after getting them. I came across the GoDog Tough Balls while looking for other dog toys and they came highly recommended as a durable dog toy.

I bought one for Duke, and so far after a few months it still has all of its body parts and its stuffing. Not only are these toys durable, but they are also very cute!

I give the GoDog Tough Balls with Chew Guard by Sherpa a 5 out of 5 stars.

World's Best Cat Litter

World's Best Cat Litter Review

I have heard of world's best cat litter before but wasn't sure I wanted to switch to it because I didn't know of anyone that used it and I was relatively happy with the cat litter I was using. I went to a pet expo about 2 months ago and World's Best was there as a vendor. I was impressed by the talk they gave to me and though, why not try it. I also got a free coupon- so it was at no cost to me!

I should start by saying, the cat box is not hidden away right now, and is a pretty high traffic area, so smell control was a top priority.

Pros: I love the way it clumped both the feces and the urine. It was easy to clean the box as the urine even got clumped so I could through that away too! It is supposed to be really good for the environment- it is made out of corn! One bag lasts a while as all the excrement is scooped out. My cat didn't have any problem switching to it.

Cons: Expensive, even if one bag lasts a while. It did nothing to stop the smell. While I would normally smell it right away he went, it would disappear after a while with his old litter, with this litter it was constant smelling, even after I cleaned it and he went once. It was bad.

I give this product 1 out of 5 stars. This is solely because of the smell. I can't keep using it and having people come into my house. If you have the box in a back room it may be good for you.

Bessie & Barnie Bagel Dog Bed

Do you have a big dog like me and are looking for a high quality dog bed that would fall apart shortly after using it?

I recently got a size x-large (60" in diameter) Bessie & Barnie bagel bed in rosebud fur brown in! These beds are huge and soft and comfortable!

Pros: Large, Soft, Comfortable.

These beds are custom made when ordered, so they they take a little while longer, but are worth it!

Up Country Dog Collar review

I used to think that a dog collar was a dog collar. It wasn't until I received a personalized dog collar for Christmas a few years ago that I really cared about Duke's collar. While I still love the that collar it is getting a little new and time to find a new one. I recently bought a comfortflex limited slip collar to use when going to for walks and taking him to the bathroom. You can read my comfortflex limited slip collar reivew on this blog also.

But as his personalized collar was getting older, I needed to start looking for a new collar. I have heard so many good things about the Up Country dog collars, but again thought, a dog collar is a dog collar.

When I was wrong. These collars are beautiful. You can actually tell just by looking at them that they are made with higher quality materials. They look stunning. Not only are they beautiful, but they are well put together.

Pros: very well put together, beautiful, high quality, lots of designs to choose from.

Cons: Nothing.

· There are two sizes- small and large- so make sure you choose one that is appropriate for your dog.
· Most dogs will need to learn to use this toy. Most will not know how to use it the first time you give it to them.

Water Wubba Dog Toy

While Duke doesn't like to swim very much (he actually is fine up until his belly, then he gets scared), he does enjoy chasing anything.

I picked up a water wubba because it is shaped like a ball and they are large!

Pros: Really great in the water- floats and with the bright colors it is easy to see. Large enough for a 100lb German shepherd.

Cons: They "run" a litte after a lot of use and getting caught on the teeth.

I give this product a 4 out of 5 stars. The one lost star is due to the running.

Many dogs enjoy the sounds that chewing on water bottles provide, but many people- like me- don't like to clean up after their dog after they have destroyed the bottle. I also am worried about what those little pieced of plastic will do to my dog if swallowed.

So when I found the bottle buddy dog toys, I thought they were a great invention! This one is a sheep that goes over the water bottle so they can enjoy the sound, but can't destroy the bottle and get sick.

Pros: No mess, no swallowing of little pieces, dog still gets the sound of a crunchy water bottle.

Cons: some dogs may not be happy that they can't destroy the bottle, there are extra things (feet, arms, ears) sticking out that the dog might rip off

NuHemp 2 Chomp Munchies Dog Treats Review

I am always trying to find healthy dog treats that Duke likes. I recently purchased the NuHemp 2 Chomp Munchies in the assorted flavor hoping that he would like these.

Pros: lots of flavors, small enough that I can give him multiple ones and not feel bad

Cons: he doesn't like them.

I should say that Duke is very picky when it comes to treats. If he will eat it, then you know that it is good. He does not like these very much. He will not eat them as a treat and if I put them in his food bowl he will eventually eat them when he eats the rest of his food.

I am always looking for new beds and items for my dog and cat. Jax gets cold really easily and is always trying to lay on my computer (when hot) or in the sun.

I came across this cat mat. It heats your cat by reflecting their body heat.

Pros: Jax likes it, it must keep him warm because he will sleep on it, the covering is soft

Cons: It is not thick and I wish it was thicker, more like a bed, not a lot of color selections

Dog Bow Tie

Dog Bow Tie Review

Last week I had a good friend get married. She wanted to include her black lab mix in some wedding pictures. I suggested doing a dog bow tie because she didn't want him wearing an entire dog tuxedo. She thought that would be a great idea. Since he is a black dog, I thought a white bow tie would look good.

Pros: the white looked really good against the black fur, easy to put on and take off, easy way to get your dog dressed up for the wedding pictures, especially for dogs not used to wearing clothes

Cons: almost too small in the collar length, would not work for really big dogs, bow tie was kind of small- would have been better if the bow tie was a little larger

emBark Doggie Daycare, Eau Claire, Wi review

I started taking Duke to a doggie daycare when he was little. I wanted to make sure that he got as much social interaction with other dogs as possible. I knew that German shepherds could be dog aggressive and I didn't want that to happen with Duke. Also, as a hyper puppy, I didn't always have time to run around with him, so he could come here and wear himself out :) (which he always did). When I first took him there is was called The Beastro, they have since moved and added some services and are now emBark. When they were at their old building (he hasn't been to the new one enough), Duke would seriously start being excited about 3 blocks before we got there. Ever fail.

Heather, the owner, is fabulous. She has years of experience with dogs. Have a question? Ask her.

They also offer different events. emBark after Dark gives you a time to just hang out with your dog and enjoy other dog lovers company. They also offer training classes, I've never been to one, so I can't comment on them, but I would assume they are great also! They have a lock in during the Fourth of July so those dogs that are afraid of fireworks can get away.

Another great thing that I have found is that, they have partnered with a pet sitting company that will drop off and pick up your dog from daycare. I have used this multiple times when I have gone on vacation and Duke has stayed with my grandma who doesn't drive.

Pros: Everything. They have it split into small and large dogs. They offer grooming (which is great after a day of dog slobber) and nail clippings. Lots of toys and room. A separate potty area. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Cons: I have since moved from Eau Claire and can't find the same atmosphere for Duke where I currently live. He does get to go whenever I go home though.

Kind of a Con: I wish they were open on weekends, that is when I get back to my parents the most, but sadly they are not open.

I like dressing up Jax in outfits, but being a male it is harder to find cute outfits that will work on a cat. I recently came across a football jersey and being a big football fan, I had to get a Green Bay Packers jersey for him. It is actually a dog jersey, but it also works well for cats!

I finally got it yesterday and I love it!

Pros: Fits very well. Looks and feels like an actual jersey, lightweight, high quality

Cons: It can't be personalized and comes with boring number 00 on it.

I give this product a 4.5 stars out of 5. It loses .5 stars because it can't be personalized.

Fromm Cat Food Review

I recently switched my dog and cat over to Fromm after they were getting very gassy on Taste of the Wild.

There are 4 flavors in the 4 star line, which is what I buy. They are surf and turf, chicken a la veg, duck a la veg, and salmon a la veg.

Pros: Not gassy! Different varieties so I can switch proteins.

Cons: Not all are grain free, which I would like.

I would give this food a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Puppy Pawd Dog Bed

I got a Puppy Pawd Dog Bed when I got Jax. I have always loved how they looked and they didn't make them big enough for a large dog. So when I got a small cat it was one of the first things I ordered!

Pros: They are extremely soft! They are extremely beautiful! I was not disappointed at all in the quality. Very well made and very high quality. It can be used flat or it can be "balled" up to be like a flower.

Cons: My cat will sleep on it at times, but my dog actually likes it better and tries to fit his entire body on it.

I give this product 5 out of 5 stars!

Buy small dog beds.
